Engine

I will be (sadly) letting this go shortly after the new year. I do not know anything about it other than the obvious. I will post back to this thread as soon as I have details.

Either way it appears to be a forged crank.

Good news & bad news; first the good news, I have finaly had a chance to check out the engine and as it turns out this engine is a steel crank w/4.25" stroke & '68 up flywheel flange. The block casting date is 360# with "F2 68" on the back. The "C" heads have a casting date of 360# & 363#. The bad news (or not so good news) is this engine had been partily overhauled, rings, brgs, gskts & due to some unfortunate circumstance it spun a rod brg & damaged the journal. I have not had a chance to measure it. Here are some pics of what I have seen.

As I suspected the journal has considerable wear (.050" +/-) and will require welding, it's very unfortunate.

That line on the piston is where it came up & smacked the head.

So what do you want for it?

What are the casting numbers on the crank? I saw a piston smack a head like that once before. A guy had a 425 engine and thought it was a 455. He replaced one piston with a 455 piston. Yep, it had a knock after that.... once disassembled the piston looked like yours. I traded him a running 350 and got his motor for parts. John
