Tilt

I had someone contact me, they think it is a 72? I am not sure, I was under the impression it is a 73? Acquired in group of parts and car I purchased.

Could you post a pic of the firewall mounting plate? This could help identify the correct year. Thanks!

it will work with some work

i can tell by the harness and floor plate it is indeed 73 up

it needs the wire harness adapter that GM sold to use the 73 up in 72 down, or you just change the switch out and use all the early switches

you need to grind off the floor plate and use the early plate that bolts on, on the 73 up its spot welded to the tube..72 down the plate just bolts on

free up the intermediate shaft..it is held together with plastic like a u joint so it slides, you heat it till the plastic oozes out of the hole and collapse it so it free..then pull it back after it cools..it will self align, the shaft is 10 inches and it slides in and out of the tube

right now i cant remember which way it is, one is about 1/2 in or so longer thru the jack shaft....you can force it in the car but it will kill the rag joint..if you free the intermediate shaft there no issues...and the shaft and tube has so much engagement theres no worries

and it bolts in..use the 72 down brackets and pay attention to how it sits use all the shims and brackets off the 72 down so it isnt in there weird
