This motor was taken out of a totaled 442 convertible. It has low miles, less than 50k, all OEM parts including the transmission. It has been sitting inside and covered. *no Carbs

I am looking to sell this motor, asking $2500. Buyer pays shipping.

As oldscutlass says, we need much more infor like year and the last time it ran. There is no such thing as an Olds 454. That is a Chevy engine. The Olds engine is a 455. Pic's would be great. Based on what most of us have seen, you are pretty high on your price. Now if it happened to be a 455 with "D" heads, that is another story.

 

lol, $2500 for a long block? Especially if its just a 454 dropped into a Cutlass. 71' Isnt going to have much as far as desirable parts go even if it is a 455, G heads most likely. Low compression pistons. Running you might ask $500 for it, more or less depending on what specific parts are in it, not running youre lookin at $300 max. However if its a 454 i couldnt help ya on that. $2500 is still too much for either motor though. Where are you located?

I know the market dipped,but they should still bring at least $4,000.00 or better,depending on condition.

 

The engine is a 455. I am not sure what heads it has in it, but I would be happy to tell you if you can tell me how to find out. The engine came out of a 442 convertible with all the bells and whistles. I am hoping to get a fair price for the engine if it is worth $400 or $4000.

The motor last ran about 10 years ago. It has been sitting in a garage, covered, since then.

 

G heads arent the dog's nuts but theyre still great heads. If im not mistaken theyre the same as Ga's and have hardened valve seats saving some machine work. Also, again if not mistaken with only Ga, they have deeper spring seats which allow for higher lift cams, again something that can be done to any other head through machining but here its just done for you already. Would be good to know what transmission is behind it, if it has a manual transmission and/or a crank set up for a manual tranny that will make it worth more, also if its from a 442 its a good chance it has the larger valves. At least larger on the intake. 2.072" vs 2.000". You should post some pics, itd help a lot with judging condition and thus value. From whats gathered so far id say $400 shouldnt be out of the question

PS: Thats just for the motor, for the motor/tranny combo $600-$700 might not be out of the question since the BOP bellhousing TH400s are getting a bit harder to come by, plus the TH400 is what most people are looking for anyway for auto set ups

H-heads did bring $7,000.00 back in 2007,but have slid with everything else since.I think $4-$5k is what they would actually sell for now.I got another set right off ebay for less than that this past march.Regardless,they are valauble & rare.

Complete and running KA heads are worth about $150 per pair in my opinion.

Those were used on farm/industrial motors such as air compressors, irrigation pumps, boats and RVs etc.

Nothing special.

 

Not to argue, but to attain more knowledge... I had seen this in the tech section of CO...as I have a set was counting my sheep.*K, Ka 413191 80cc 2.072" 1.625" 1973-76 factory W-30/ Marine/ Irrigation head replacement unit. Rumored to have possibly been supplied as original equipment on some '72 W-30's. Accepted by the NHRA as a stock W-30 head. Large valves, 2.072 and 1.625". Big 80cc chambers which yields poor compression figures, but so are the C's, etc. unless you shave them. Rumored to flow not quite so well as C's [source: Mondello]. Valve rotators on all valves, therefore deep spring seats, allowing either rotator retainers or very stiff springs. Hardened exhaust seats. Exhaust heat crossover is NOT blocked off. Not quite so rare or expensive as the other 'exotics' (F, H's). Also said to be found in 1973-1974 standard shift big blocks found in Cutlass'.
