Continuing, a 7040256 rebuilt carb today from a reputable rebuilder/seller will generally sell in the $5K price range--maybe a little more, or less, plus this seller has thrown in a W30 intake and a 977 distributor? Either this seller does not know what he is selling or there is another motive in play.
Yes, the fonts are questionable in the eBay photograph. As another example, the 1 in 3179 of the eBay photo has no foot on it when compared to the legit stamping.
It would be nice to see the complete part # on the distributor, from what I can see the "9" does not have the correct font (where the upper loop intersects the back loop).
