Nice piece Vader! Your carb guy does very nice work from an presentation stand point and I've heard his rebuilds are excellent and bolt on ready.

Mike--are you able to see the date on the rear end? Looking for an appropriate date for a 12/1/69 built car so something with a 250-330 julian.

If you have a real 7040258, you would have posted the appropriate picture of the stamping on the carb. So then we could all view it and decide for ourselves if it is what you say it is. There are only a few build dates for these carbs and 3366 is not one of them. If you are saying that was the build date....it would be a 1966 carb. The proper date stamping would end in a 9 or 0. So, if you have a real 7040258, please show us some pics and we will all know.

Thats correct Fred, this is a service date 3366, which would be 336 day of 1976. The airhorn is the earlier style with the T fitting, which some call more desirable.
I also have a 3329 and 2659.

No need to call the police....apparently they've already arrived.....and can't read. However, I think I see one small grain in the casting which does not comport with the accepted casting irregularity regulations as promulgated by the Global Casting Committee in 1979 (Regulation 12.115 Section 1A, subsection 24 of the Master Casting Policing Manual).

I have one of these 7040258 Service Carbs also. Same build date 3366. Same upside down 8. Same location of date stamp for Quadrajets built in 1976, 1977.

The carb appeared to have never been taken apart until I pulled it apart in the 1990's. It's the real thing. When I pulled it apart I found that it had all of the important inner parts of a 7040258, such as
- Main Jet 7031969
- Primary Rods 7040701 “52C” Triple Taper Rods (Rare)
- Secondary Rods 733655 “AU”
