70' JO code W-31, 350 trans. W/converter
When was the last time you saw one of these for sale? This JO trans came out of my totaled (on the way to an NHRA national event in March, 1976, towing my factory 68' ram rod drag car, lady pulled out in front of me and wamm!) "brass hat" car that I had built for me (last F-85 W-31 auto. built) when I worked for Olds as an exce. It has 114,00 miles total use, however I had my trans guy (I was service mgr. @ an Olds dealership in Daytona Bch, FL starting in 74') rebuild it @ 110,000 in Nov. 1975. New fiber plates (it did not need them, but I told my trans guy to replace them anyways!) were replaced, original converter was flushed and trans. resealed. All new parts are GM. The conveter is the correct doubled dabs of dark green paint indicating the special hi-stall (stalls @ 2,700 rpm and flashes to 2,900 rpm) for W-31 s trans/converter built @ the Buick trans. plant. The govenor was reworked to shift @ 6,200 rpm (this is the best rpm for the 308* cam with 4:33 gears) instead of the factory setting of 5,900 rpm. When I first got the car I raced it locally in the Pure Stock Class and since it was column shift, I wanted it to up-shift in drive, so I did not miss a shift by manually moving the lever. No other modifications made! Been sitting on the shelf always in a climate controlled shop since 1976. It needs no hard parts replaced since it only went 4,000 miles since rebuild, except needing to be resealed again! Also includes new NOS, in the GM wrapper, down-shift cable! Buyer pays crating/pallet charges and actual shipping charges. My zip is 32327 I have the original dealer invoice showing VIN number of the car which matches VIN number stamped on LH side of trans. case and JO code w/build date stamped on govenor cover to document it is the real deal!
$ 6,000

Yo, back at ya toooooooooo! Happy Holidays dude.
Really enjoyed myself in MA. Weather was the best, 70 s during the day and 60 s at night, while it was 100-103* in Florida! WoW
Took the train from Mansfield in to Boston to see REO, what a great ride and got to see that bitching fast Accella train.
Everyone I met was geat and really got a lot of complainments on the car. I put 500 miles on the F-85 driving around MA. for the month I was there. Ate a lot of lobsters toooooo!

pix and new price
Trying to get out to the shop to take some pix. Been in the low 40 s here in North Florida, sooooooo to cold for this old man of 66 and do not want to get sick!
New price $5,000, includes NOS downshift cable and I will pay shipping, USA only, lower 48 states!
Ok looks some are questioning the price. If you don't know anything about what a JO code trans is, please do not comment. A little info: this trans has 6 plate clutch packs with flat fixed plates (std. 350 has 5 fiber plates with fixed "wave" plates to cushion shift); corvette high pressure servo; valve body pressures 30% higher than std. 350, govenor weights lightened for trans to sihift @ 5,900 rpm instead of 4,800 for std. 350. The main thing is THAT THIS IS THE REAL DEAL FOR SOMEONE WHO NEEDS THIS TRANS TO COMPLETE A HIGH QUALITY RESOTRATION. I have documentation to verify that it is a W-31 JO trans With the correct coded tourqe converter. The VIN and dated side cover corespond to the docs I have. The side cover can be changed from trans to trans but the VIN on the trans matches the doc dealer invoice. You'all know me, as I do not BS and I know what I am talking about! If it does not sell I will just put it back on the shelf or off to Ebay. No harm, no foul! Please note that the special torque converter for W-31 JO trans was NOT available from GMPD, like the OW was. Only original chassis line built Lansing chassis got the "special high stall converter"
