'70-72 Original Hurst Dual Gate Setup - nice restored unit
'70-72 original Hurst Dual Gate shifter setup for sale.
>Completely restored
>Lower metal housing had some rust and pitting so the housing was beadblasted, epoxy primed, pitting filled, reprimed, etc to a smooth finish on the surfaces.
>Original shifter handle rechromed and very nice. It does have one "rub" area under the chrome on the P side of the handle (see last pic) but it's not something that will deteriorate over time and isn't really visible unless you're looking at the handle UP CLOSE. It's a "rub" area in the metal prior to plating.....not a rub in the chrome itself.
>Various parts replated or painted - link bar (silver), shifter cable hookup brackets, white lamp housing (white catalyzed epoxy sprayed)
>New chrome "slider" plate. Chrome finish isn't super smooth - slightly "bumpy" but its well plated with the new black **** on it.
>New black plastic "rub" strip installed on the black top plate. A part that is commonly missing on these.
>New repro black shifter ball.....one of the nice ones from Brandon Reynolds.
>Both mounting brackets with all new attachming hex screws as well as new hex screws to mount the shifter assembly to the floor. Brackets also had rust pitting but were not "weak", etc. Refinished in a "bare metal" catalyzed urethane paint like the lower housing.
>Driver quality original chrome top plate included for $50 ADDITIONAL cost. Show cars would likely want a new repro top plate.
>New slider plate return spring installed for the chrome slider plate.
>The commonly worn edge along the lower/outside of the housing (from the link bar wearing away at the housing) was welded up and smoothed out for a nice new sliding surface.
>'70 nuetral safety switch bracket, link bar and roll pin included - I fabbed these using originals as a guide - correct size/shape, etc.
>New stainless clevis pin and clip for shifter cable hookup installed on shifter
>New stainless steel clevis pin and clip for NSS link bar-to-bracket (LAST TWO PICS)
Overall a very nice restored '70-72 Dual Gate shifter setup....ready to bolt in and use. Apply some additional grease to the moving parts prior to installation.
