'68 Vista parts Waxahachie Tx.
Just purchased '68 Vista for parts on my '72 project. Going to use this thread to sell parts that I don't need. I will be posting parts as I sort them out but would also welcome inquiries from those who need stuff. To begin with I know I won't need the original 400 engine. It has a two barrel carb (can look up the number), C heads, X and Y exhaust manifolds. Previous owner detected a knock in it when he had it running but I haven't verified it as the engine is pretty stripped right now but I could make the effort to get it running to see. I am not sure of a fair price on the engine but will start with $600 depending on if you pick it up or take it out or not, etc. I don't think shipping would be an option.

I sold the hood latch mechanism. While I was removing it I gave a tug on the alternator belt and the crank moved. If anyone is interested in a 400 engine I will check on it some more, remove the plugs do a compression test if the starter works, etc.

Understandable, shipping is soooo much now it seems, especially when we are accustomed to free shipping with many of the big internet retailers with their overhead that allows it. Well, if you change your mind let me know.

Hey Dan,
Have you compared USPS, UPS, and FedEx? They are all over the place but sometimes one is significantly cheaper than the other two.
EX: 21lb package was ~$67 w/UPS, $95 with FedEx, and $36 with USPS in one of their flat rate boxes. For the next shipment UPS will beat USPS....et al.

I may give a shot at either USPS or Fedex, that price was via UPS.
Steve what are your thoughts about the fender? We have to contact Richard before he leaves next week for Tennesse

Dan, Tennessee does me no good. That is a 10-12hr one-way ride from here. As you know I'm in no shape to drive. Still working on that other angle. He is slow to return calls.
If you have someone with cash in hand please don't wait on me.
This is status quo lately for parts purchasing. Dam shipping is 2x more than the cost of the part. So disgusted with current inflation. We were doing good for a while.

Well guys I checked with Fedex and they are cheaper in this case, I can ship it via them for $27.15, the part should still get there within 3 days. I can send it out Monday.

Steve,
I am in no rush to get it out, I haven't even taken it off the car yet so we can wait on your other source. If I can pull it and weigh it we may have a better idea of shipping costs. I will try to do that next week.

Oldsguy. It is so funny to see Waxahachie Texas when I see your post. I was in trucking for years and years. I hauled so many loads out of Dart container (look at your styrofoam cups people). My driver's hated those light loads ha ha. Blew them all over the road. Just had to share.

Dart is still here and doing business, there are apartment complexes all around it now, behind and to the south. On the access road for 287 just up the corner to I35 the Hospital has built a brand new building. Oh, probably you are asking what Hospital, it's less than ten years old. I tried to drop a googlemaps link with no success, oh well.

TX Dan. I assume your return address will be on the map light? Soon as I see it I'll take care of business.

Ok so here is an update on the 400 engine which I am told certain people might be interested in wanting to have an original '68 400 engine in their '68 442. I got it started yesterday but it wouldn't run for two reasons. First, the carb is shot and dribbling gas from a bottle is hard to do successfully. Second, the engine does have a rod knock. Probably wouldn't want to run it anyway in that condition. If anyone is interested I would be willing to sell it cheap. It wouldn't take much to yank it out the engine compartment is pretty bare.

Sold the core support today. Byron (BeeSt.Louis) picked it up so I decided to bump this thread with a note that I have the hood completely free and ready for pick up. Still have lots of body parts for a '68 A body. Give me a pm if you need anything.
