68 442 Differential rear end 12 bolt 31 spline 3:42
For your interest . This differential just came off of my own 1968 Oldsmobile 442 convertible previously it was in the original burgundy 1968 442 that it was born in. It should fit most 1967-72
442 Hurst/Oldsmobile A bodies Casting # 394139 CF9. 8.5" ring 10 bolt gear. It will also fit other years and GM A body model's and brands such as Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, etc... therefore do your due diligence as i don't have that information. It was POR-15 by the previous owner. It's a 12 bolt cover. The axles have 31 splines (the "Big Unit") and both axle bearings were replaced about 3000 miles ago, the gear ratio is 3:42 single traction (the old one Leger is tiered and the bearings can be heard slightly at mid range only but it can be easily converted to positive traction with a modified nine inch Ford Posi traction) all the threads are good, the top two bushings are dated 1990 so for peace of mind i would replace both anyways as they are 30 years old. The picture's show all the numbers on it and just how nice it really is. I will assist the buyer loading it into their vehicle. I am willing to ship it by Fastenal on a crate at buyers expense but it will vary on location etc.... $1000.00 cash upon pick up.
