66 vista cruiser wheels

set of 4 wheels with caps and trim rings. Not show quality but will polish up nicely. Tires are not cracked or rotten, just old. I drove couple hundred miles before I took them off. $200. Tire size, 215 x 75 x 14

Couple things, Benelli. Super Stock II wheels were not available in '66. Also, if those tires are more than ten years old, they should not be driven on. Probably better to demount and toss them.

Isn't 0811 the date code - eighth week of 2011? By the way, not only did SS II/III wheels not exist in 1966, they were NEVER factory available on the Vista Cruiser prior to 1973. The extended wheelbase Vistas 64-72 came with HD rear wheel bearings and brakes due to the anticipated higher load capacity, and the SS II/III wheels did not have the load carrying capacity. Yeah, everyone puts them on their Vistas today (along with W25 hoods...).

what year are they? Bought the car with them on. Correct on the tire age, that's why I changed them. I'm not spending any $ to dismount and recycle. Leave that for the buyer.

Joe P. (above) can put a finer point on it, but I'm gonna say c. 1972.

Fine on the tires, but make sure you disclose their age to the buyer, otherwise you may have liability issues when they blow up on him at 80 MPH on the freeway.

Those wheels appear to be 14” bolt-in cap versions, which I think would be 1968-1972 era. Knowing the wheel width would narrow down the year range.

The 14x7 SS II/III wheels with bolt-in centers were made 1970-74.
1968-69 were 14x6.
The trim rings show that these are 14x7.

For whatever it worth, very good price on a complete set of SSIII. These wheels look real good on any Olds A-body

ok here’s the rims I bought for a hundred bucks. My assumption is they are the early SSll rims, the SSll only came in one color argent grey. Then oldsmobile offered the SSlll rims which were painted to match the car. My owner manual options book shows these rims as an option for the 69 Cruiser. These are the 14x7, it’s possible they’ve been repainted, but who ever done them, done a fantastic job on them. But now I’m repainting them to match my cars colors, so far so good. I used an enamel metal flake plate paint, our automotive paint store mixed up for me. I’m new to this game, I’m just going by the original books that my dad still had in the gl9ve box, showing the SSll rims as an option.

Unless that rim is stamped 14x7 it sure looks like it's 14x6 which is the size available in 69. The trim ring is definitely the one for the 14x6 and it doesn't look like the 14x7 ring would fit that.

You can tell the 14x6 trim ring by the opening for the valve stem not completely surrounding the stem.

I checked, it is stamped 14x6, you are correct. Yet still for a hundred bucks for authentic rims for the car, is a steal. I know your paperwork doesn’t show them as an option, but my owners paperwork shows them as an option

Furbody, in any case you're correct. $100 for a set of SSII is a great price, and you got some of the wheel bling that looks to be in nice shape too, bonus!

Where does that say they were optional on the Vista? That options book covers all models. Here's the 1969 SPECS booklet page for the Vista. RPO N66 is not an option.

Here's the 1969 Inspectors Guide. Note that N66 is shown as "N" (not available) on the 4800 cars and also not available on the 3535 and 3635 Cutlass flattop wagons.

Where are you ? I'd be interested. I have a 66 Vista wagon I'd like to put them on.
