65-69 Olds 442 W-30 Cutlass 4 Sp console latch
I am selling a hand made (better than the original) 65-69 4 speed console latch. Notice how the original latch wore out on the edge instead of the center well I took care of that issue by widening the surface of the lock travel (see pictures) I got tired of the lid popping up every time I hit a pot hole, nobody it making reproductions of it and they ware out (plastic 48 years old). To test the waters before having 100 made I am offering one of the two that I made. I spend 5 hours making each one as I only have limited tools. It's really about getting feedback to see what you would do different if anything, but I am confident that you will love it. . I used 60/61 T6 aluminum which as good anti-corrosion elements. It can be high polished and painted in clear or black, I like it as I made it, it's like a piece of jewelry in your console. I will provide screws (black steel which is the closest in looks) the original brass rivets 3/16" at smallest of it's diameter) which I will modify slightly for a more flushed fit. It fits 65-69 4 speed consoles of Cutlass, 442, W-30 also 64-65 Starfire Automatic consoles. Easy installation: take the driver seat out, drill out the black brass rivets (use blue masking tape and start with a small bit as center as you can get. From dead center you can go all the way up to 3/16" but take your time and gradually increase the bit size. Once you get the rivets and latch off it will be a walk in the park.
