455 4-spd engine core

Nice 455 with 4-spd crank.I have it torn down to the shortblock.Everything moves freely, and the cylinders look nice.It is all stock, with standard cast dished pistons, and it still had the steel shim head gaskets. The block has the boss for the z-bar stud.I have a set of Ga heads that I can include.$275.00 with or without the heads.E-mail me for pictures.

The block is a 74,but is a 396021F, NOT an Fa,and has thick cylinder bores without the steps that I have found in some of the other blocks with thinner bores.
If it means anything, when I selected a block for my 517 that is being built,I ended up using a 76 block. It ended up having the thickest cylinders of the three that I had there to test. The other two blocks were a 68 and a 70.I have yet to find any pattern for the blocks & the thickness of the cylinders.I did not have this block at that time,or I would have tested this one too.

Thanks Brian, I was just hedging it may be a 70 as the engine in my 70SX may need to be rebuilt and thought it may work - after all if its a 70 block according to Mecum its "Numbers matching" I know its not but it would allow me to build one motor while I an still tool around in it.

Hey Brian,

Cool! I might be looking at eventually building a 455 while my 350 is still purring along.

Are 72 455 blocks hard to come by? I'd probably be looking for something rather complete with heads/intake etc.
