Pulled from a 1972 Cutlass 4 door, inside looks nice. SB code=2.73 posi. Not terribly rusty, ready to install or restore. I can ship through Fastenal or come pick up here in Indianapolis. Like to get $450.00.

Interesting that a 4 door Cutlass (plain jane family car) was ordered with a posi and so many 442s (badass muscle car) had open rears. I never understood it.

I have another '72 4 door that is a factory U code(455) car that also has a 2.73 posi & have had another '71 4 door that had one in it too. Seems like it would be mandatory on a 442 right?!

can you not change the gears and have 323 342 etc ratio with that posi

I'm no expert but I believe you can switch just the ring & pinion with this differential. If you have the 2.56, I think you have to change gears & the diff.

100% correct. With this carrier you can install 2.73 3.08 3.23 3.42 & 3.73 OEM gear sets or aftermarket 3.90s & 4.10s.


$450 is very reasonable. Use this as a core, swap in new parts & the gear set of choice & you are good to go.
