1970F series heads

It almost looks like they were machined like that but you can see it is only at the top. I don't really know if that is normal or not but I cant see how that would affect the performance .

is it just those 2 guides? i never saw that on guides unless the machinist ''slipped''

There is another thread with more pics this was just to post a close up of the valve guides. They are 4000 OBO

That is weird. Never seen it before. Like identical mishaps?

I doubt it's a mishap but I sent some pictures to Mondello to get his take on it. I have F series heads on my other cars but you can't tell if there like that with the valve springs on. These heads have never been worked on I know that for sure so my guess is they were like that from the factory but we will see what the man says.

OK I just talked to Oldsmobile Specialist Bill at BTR Performance and emailed him a couple of the valve guide photos This was his response. "I would say it was probably a state of the art trick in 1970 that someone did. The guides need to be machined out anyway so it doesn't matter".
