That is a very early casting date for the F Heads. Would that be July of 69 or July of 70 julian date.

I would suspect that would be a July 70 date, but weren't there a run of manifolds made after dec 69, of course I guess it doesn't matter unless someone miraculously has the car this engine once belonged to

I think he wanted $4500.00 for all that in the pictures.

As for F-head dates,there are 211,261,295,336,and 051.

The 051's are 1970.All of the other ones are cast in 1969 for the 70 model year.

wow, so they were making parts for these cars a few months before production started,I guess that makes sense, was there a typical start up date for parts production?

DaveH would know exactly, since he worked there, but I think they shut down sometime in July,to retool, and set-up for the following model year.

The earliest 70 I have seen was built August/69,and the latest 70 I have seen was built July/70.This is not to be taken as gospel, but it is just what I have seen personally,in my possesion.

I wasnt sure when they started producing the W30's. I am trying to see how close it falls with my VIN, if you dont want to say then thats fine.

I no longer own that particular car,but I should still have some info somewhere.I currently have a September-built car,and the block was cast in May/69.

(Sorry for the hi-jack, DropTopCad.)

Brian, are you saying you owned a '70 W30 which was built in Sept '69? I'd like to know more about it. I've got some pretty good evidence that '70 W-30s weren't built until October, but I'm open to evidence to the contrary.

The early one I have now,was built the 4th week of september. The block was cast on the 188th day,has the 211 heads,2569 carb, and the 9G21 dist. I haven't had the intake off yet.My December & January(70) cars had the 9G21,but had the 3179 carb.
Another thing to consider is that the cowl tag on the body was made before the broadcast sheet was printed,so the dates "can" vary within a week,so the end of a month could be on a cowl tag,and the beginning of the next month "could" be on the broadcast sheet. I had a 71 442 4-spd convertible, that was built in June,71. The cowl tag said 06A,and the broadcast sheet was dated June 11th.I do have pictures of that that I kept.

Called droptopcad this evening and he said this has sold.

Brain, just wondering on your September built car what is the first 5 of the VIN. I have read on this site before that W30s where first built In October but I dont know if i agree. Maybe Dave H knows about when they started makeing W30's?

DaveH would know since he worked there, and he will have a whole scientific explanation to go with it.
I'll get that number.
