1969 olds toronado
Hello everyone I came across a 1969 olds toronado in very good running original condition. Not a rust bucket. the person is asking 2,100. Im only interested in the 455. I have a numbers matching 69 442 but id prefer to keep the original motor rebuilt and in storage. I thing the original 400 makes more than enough power. I just want to have the original saved. Is there much interest in parts for the toronados. I dont want to spend 2100 just for the engine and was hoping i could part the vehicle out and recoupe some money? Its kind of a shame because the Toronado is in really nice condition. I live in alaska so theres very little to no parts available to just purchase a motor.
Thanks in advance for any input. If I pull the trigger I will list the vehicle and parts here first.

Don't interpret my comments to harshly. Shipping costs have to be a major concern. Because you are in Alaska, that makes shipping more difficult. I hate splitting up a complete and original example of anything. I can understand you wanting to save your original 400. The complete "Toro" may be more valuable to someone, and easier to ship. Parting out a car won't happen overnight, plan on looking at it for a while.
1. I wonder if you put your state in your avatar, people closer to you (Canada/Alaska) may have just what you need. 2. Submit a 455 Olds engine in a "Parts Wanted" thread on this site. 3. Check shippers in your area for approximate costs and rules. Good luck
......Just my two cents worth

In my opinion Toro parts are not desirable or in demand. There are plenty around and people just aren't restoring them. I once bought a 67 Toro for 95 dollars complete. Turns out the engine had a catastrophic failure. I got some parts off of it and the heads, but I was not able to sell one part off of it. I could not even GIVE the transaxle stuff away... nobody wanted the hood doors or bumpers.
