For sale is a pair of 1967 W30 air intakes. These are an exact reproduction of the original ones, please see pictures of the old and new for comparison and for the placement of the mounting tabs that will need to be purchased and installed by the buyer. They get pop-riveted in place after final adjustments are made for positioning. These were very expensive to reproduce, I have three set available at this and will only make more based on demand. $425.00 + $15.00 shipping to lower 48.

Hi Guys. I have a question about 67 GM A body frames. Olds advertised heavy duty frames for the 442,but, other then the convertible were they really any different then any other A body frame? I was looking at a frame for sale out of a regular cutlass and noticed that there was only one pair of holes where the rear upper control arm mounted as opposed to two sets of holes in my 442 frame. Does anyone know how many GM A body frames are exactly the same as the 1967 442 frame?

The 442 frame has a one piece frame rail, not welded. A cutlass frame will be welded together, near the rear wheel opening, and door opening. The 442 will have steel plates welded in at the engine cross member and frame rail.
Any standard shift cutlass will have this frame though, not just a 442.

Thanks for the info. I noticed you're from Texas, and I know Texas is a big place but maybe you know the answer to a question I have. I was at the Fall Carlisle event in Pa and there was a guy selling restored frames from Texas, I lost his card and don't know how to contact him. do you know anyone like that? Thanks. Tom.

Sorry, I don't know of anyone. I do my own frames. I just take them to my local powder coating shop, they sandblast and powder coat, in two or three days.

Tom. that frame guy was set up near me . Hes ridiculous. wants 2400 for a powdercoated frame. i had a frane therecfor sale for 600 and he offered me 200 for it "to take it off my hands". i said No Thanks. Sokdvit at Canfield for 600. BTW it was sandblasrted and painted too. FYI only manual trans cars got the adjustable holes for rear upper control arms. i think Ray Park has one for sale reasonable?

Sorry, NOT TRUE. At least in 67, that is.. 67 442s with automatic DID NOT receive the multi-hole upper control arm mount frame. NOT EVEN MY W30 aitomatic had it Single hole only. Only manual shift cars got it.

I am not sure there is a true rule. I have had plain jane f85 cars with the convertible reinforced frame and stick shift cars with single hole upper control arm mounts.

Would be the same when it comes to the heavy duty frame.
I know for a fact 64 and 65 are that way I just bought a 66 442, with automatic, so now I can check it for myself.

what you say is true - to the extent that the "heavy-duty" frame was an option on non-convertible models, and that a stick shift F85 didnt have the xtra upper arm holes. im thinking CS only got them? not sure?

Have the frame straightened or checked for straightness before you do any restoration to it. It important to have a good foundation before going through all that work and expense only to find its tweaked.

What I did was bolt the head light assembly to the radiator support,then apply masking tape where you plan to cut the holes and set the intakes in place so you know they are exactly where they need to be and measure the distance from the top of the top one to the bottom of the lower one making sure it is not greater then the opening in the rear unit. then trace the intakes and drill the 4 corners (this makes for nice finished corners) and cut the straight lines with a saber saw. drill mounting holes where they fall. This should give you a nice tight fit.

While a saber saw will certainly work, I have had much better luck cutting perfectly straight lines with a metal cutting disc than a saber saw. But that's just me.

Were the original factory core supports cut for the ducts or were they punched? As in is there a lip around the hole on the front or back side from being punched, or is it flush with the rest of the flat steel around the hole?

factory w30 cars had them stamped. Track pak cars they were cut.

I have a thread going on me doing them. I am happy with the results so far. Marked with template then drilled corners and used a die grinder with a cut off wheel to make the cut outs.
