Need help with stripe location

Hi. I need some help and/or advice on my 1970 Cutlass Convertible. After a few yrs in paint, long story......., the body shop is finally ready to add the stripe (i will not be badging this as a w30 but i do like the combo on this color scheme, Viking Blue and White stripe). I had purchased a stripe kit from OPGI which seems to be of quality but the painter and I are concerned on the location of the stripe on the back 1/4 panel. Looks like it's sitting a bit high on the body line. One caveat is that we did have to replace the inner wells and 1/4 panels so this could be throwing off the line, but wanted to ask some of you experts to get some thoughts. Thanks in advance! Ed

From laying out the stripe on my car using factory blueprints, I found that...
  • The stripe follows the break in the side curvature. Front, middle, rear--the stripe remains the same distance from the break.
  • The curvature around the wheel wells also resulted in an even gap between the stripe and the wheel opening.
Notice the OPGI stripe is too close to the leading edge of both wheel openings.

Thanks Gary, very helpful. Looks like the back 1/4 panel drifts a bit high of the break.
