Cinnamon Bronze on 70 442?

Hello. '70 442 convertible I'm restoring (currently red, white interior, white top) has this cowl tag designating WA 3819 as the paint code.

paintref.com lists it as Cinnamon Bronze used by Olds in 1968. Sure enough it shows up in the '68 book as color code 'M'. Can't find that in the 70 books except as a Toronado only color, code '68'. Is this unusual?
Still debating restoring the original color.

Thanks,
Eric

Seems either the dealer or buyer who ordered the car liked the '70 Toronado's Cinnamon Bronze color and Special Ordered it for their 442. Though I have never seen a Special Order paint code noted like that on a Cowl Trim Tag.

I would have the 442 painted in the original Special Order color of Cinnamon Bronze. Will make the 442 unique and interesting.

Paint it the original color!!!!!! Please. Not many were and it would help the cars value in my opinion. Look for a build sheet, Would be curious to see the stripe color. What plant was it built at?

The car was built in Linden, NJ. I had it down to the smallest individual pieces and couldn't find any build sheet. There is remnant of a sheet of paper stuck to the lower cowl in front of the drivers door but it would take CSI Poconos to get anything out of it. It seems to be an original car other than the water pump and distributor. Oh well we've got a year to decide on paint but I tend to agree that you don't see any that color so might be interesting.

thanks & thoughts

Of all the cowl tags I have seen that is the 1st time I have ever seen a paint code depicted in that fashion. Thanks for sharing.

My 2 cents is to paint it the original color....no other choice.

Wow, great color, rare color combo and I have never seen that on a cowl tag either. Paint it that color - very cool - though its your car do with it as you please.

The letter "A" could be the stripe colour.

or the letter "A" IS the convertible top color - A = white

with "977" bucket seat interior = ivory

sounds like it would need white stripes though ??

Good stuff. Thanks!

The top is white so that would make sense. Someone along the way had painted it red with white stripes on the hood. The interior is buckets and now I know the interior is ivory not white. This picture is about 10 years ago before I started messing with it.
