1966 442 400 bronze engine color

just want and opinion of this paint that they are selling at autozone. How close is the color to the olds original bronze. The color is more what you see in the shaded area on one of the pics.
thanks, Kelly

My 67 442 400ci is painted the VHT burnt copper. Looks like what you have in the picture. Came across a can of another color from Fusick. In the end they are pretty close.

That looks too gold in the photo. There is a long thread on engine paints in copper/bronze. Do a search and you should be able to find it.

I tried it and it is very red in comparison. I like what Supercarsunlimited sells I think it is very close. I have learned too that if you of course clean the engine very well, then paint it with cast iron manifold paint, then paint it with the engine paint it is much more uniform in color and it takes much less of the more expensive paint to get the finish you are wanting. It stands up well and looks great. I find the paint from Fusick and tamaraz is a little too dull for the finish I like.

So for me I use Supercarsunlimited.com and have been very happy with the finish product. Here is two I have done that way.

Looks like the version that Fusick and Tamraz sold when it first came out.
I used some on an engine of my own and saw it on a '66 tri-power car at Alliance.
It looks like a faded out version of the correct color.
Fusick eventually got it right.
I think all the Olds vendors are now selling a pretty accurate version.
