72 CS block poorly painted blue…olds gold under
#1
I have been slowly going through my engine bay and have discovered the blue (which I don’t mind) is poorly painted over the original olds gold color.
How can I remove the blue without deteriorating the gold?

It would take less effort to just remove what is there and repaint it gold. The amount of effort it would take to try and remove just the blue would be crazy. Plus no way you could strip the blue and have perfect gold paint.

Besides without some type blasting and/or a lot of work with a wire cup brush, there's going to be some type of dirt, rust, corrosion, etc. still on everything else. You got 2 options really: Mask/Tape/Cover anything you don't want paint on OR pull everything out and apart then sort it all by finish. I.e. gold, matte black, and semi-flat black ect. Slowly restoring it piece by piece. You just gotta decide what you want: Okayish (for now), Good as I can get it, or Right. I had a spun bearing at the time so good as I can worked for me. Others demand perfection.
