Paint Code?
Thanks for the link. You're right, it does appear that they jumped to a later code. This car was built the 4th week of Feb '70 so it wasn't a late car. I wonder if the tag is original d soeone got the code cofused.
The 1970 factory assembly manual has the "WA" paint codes listed for all but the four "Special Order" (extra cost OPTION) paint colors. I have a 1970 Sherwin-Williams Color Manual that shows all of the "WA" paint codes (#38 "Agean Aqua" WA-4040, #51 "Sebring Yellow" WA-3893 , #53 "Nugget Gold" WA-4035 , #73 "Rally Red" WA-4007).
The factory assembly manual also lists the stripe colors, these have a "WSA" code - does anyone know what the "WA" and/or "WSA" references/translates to?
Yes, 442s were assembled at the New Jersey plant.
Were the OPTIONAL paint colors available from the start of the model year, or were they introduced mid-year? Does anyone have a pic of a body tag from another Special Order Paint car from New Jersey?

My old '70 Supreme convertible was Sebring Yellow and built in Linden - it had the WA Dupont paint code on the cowl tag. My current '70 SX convertible is Rally Red and was also built in Linden. It too has the WA code on the cowl tag. The 8x11 build sheets for both cars also had the WA codes on them.

Do you have paperwork that shows the "WA" codes to be DuPont's?
When were your Supremes built?
The '70 assembly manual shows:
Code 51 - Sebring Yellow - Rinished Mason L67YD001 - DuPont 926-99568
Code 73 - Rally Red - Rinished Mason L67RD023 - DuPont 926-99539

Here's the body tag for my '67 442 - it took a good while to figure out the paint code shown. Ends up it is the '67 Toronado ONLY "Emerald Green Metallic", I guess putting "J-J" there would've been too difficult.
Looks like the Dupont No. is scribbled out with the WA code written in by hand. I can't confirm teh build date from what I see here, but the protect-o-plate shows an 04-30-1970 sales date. I can check the cowl tag the next time I'm at my other garage.

This is the info I had on my cowl(which is supposed to be a Sebring Yellow as well). Anybody see anything weird and can just verify the cowl readout as well attached? Also, Found some interesting info doing cowl search (user RJSPEN has similar 99568 color code on line two and line one he has 242 while mine is 165 after the E for Linden)...does this mean these cars are sequenced that close?

I am showing it as DuPont paint code for 1969 Chevy Canary Yellow which it also says is a close match for "Sebring Yellow" WA-3893. Source
What's interesting is the Rallye 350 always looks darker yellow than the Sebring Yellow 442's I've seen. Anyone ad some of these together to see if there is a slight hue differnce(shouldn't be realy, so could be due to the stripe accents)?
