Opinion On Color Scheme

Opinion On Color Scheme
I'm building a '67 Delmont 88 custom with shaved door handles, shaved trunk lock, and a cowl induction hood. My first thoughts are to paint it the Corvette red that is shown on the '53 GMC. However, my father-in-law is trying to talk me into following a paint scheme similar to the '53 (instead of solid red). The quarters would probably have some sort of fancy scallop between the 2 colors.
Has anyone seen a big Olds of the late 60's with a radical two-tone and, if so, how did it look.
The Olds picture is from late May of this year prior to the engine being removed. The fenders were basically hanging on there for fitment prior to removing them so the body could be lifted from the frame and the engine work done (the 425 [with a cracked block] was replaced with a 455).
Oh decisions....
Any opinions (good or bad) or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, in 1967 all Olds models except Toronado could be ordered with the '2 tone' option (D99). I saw a newer model Delta 88 in almost exactly that truck combo and it didn't work for me.
What about something like this? The only problem with 2 tones is the paint change needs some form of transition; typically some stainless trim.

Is that your car in the picture? Whoever it belongs to has a beautiful car!
I'm backing off of the red and silver but am thinking about white racing stripes on top.
The good news is that, although the car should be drivable in a few weeks I'm waiting until spring to paint it. Lots of time to pick a color scheme.

No, it's one I found on the web when I was looking for Delmonts with green paint. I thought it looked really sharp so I posted it as an idea for you. Good to know you have time to ponder on the color. Suggestion - have someone photoshop your car with the various colors and stripe patterns you are thinking about. That will give you the best idea without any risk.
