KONDAR red oxide primer? Looking for NOS gallon

Does anyone know where I could find an unopened NOS gallon KONDAR red oxide primer? I really like the stuff and my paint store says it's obsolete!

Thanks for any info,
OLE442

Not sure what to use now under my lacquer?

I have some KONDAR grey (DZ3) but it doesn't spray, build up or sand as well as the KONDAR red oxide(DZ7)! Be nice to find a new gallon on someone's shelf. I guess I'll post on multiple forums. Did an internet search and nothing pops up! I guess the primer I like is obsolete...….just like me! LOL!!

A member in another forum has located a gallon and has made arrangements and it should arrive here by next Tuesday! What good luck for me!

Hi OLE442, I know this post if a couple years old but I too am looking for some of the old Kondar. We used this stuff in tech school way back in 1980. Do you know of where I can get a can? Hope to here from you. DuWayne

DuWayne: I'd post a new post on this and other car forums "Wanted to Buy" for an unopened can. You might just get lucky. This stuff has been discontinued years ago so good luck!

I had bought the gray Kondar and it didn't build up or sand like the red oxide IMO! I'm just getting close to spraying the primer so we shall see! It's been 20 years ago that I painted my last car and, at almost 70, I'm a little nervous to paint again but I'm cheap! I'm painting my 442 in Viking blue lacquer w/ high performance clear over the top and it will look as good as it will look. Hope it looks as nice as my BOSS 302 I restored back in the day!!

Thanks OLE442. I ended up using an unopened gallon of Nason Select Prime 2k Filler Primer that I didn't even know I had! The stuff worked great. I too haven't painted in a long time and I'll tell you this stuff really filled and laid down great. Then yesterday I'm at a friends house and he's a bit older than me. He's saved everything he's ever had all the way back from the 60's. You won't believe this but he had a half filled can of Gray Kondar! I couldn't believe it. So I told him about this forum and my search for some Kondar. It turns out he has all the interior trim from a 70 Custom Cruiser Wagon. Even the chrome strips that lay on the rear cargo area carpet. Even the screws. How did you do with your Kondar? You've had some nice classic hot rods.
