Is there a rattle can spray paint available that's close to the firefrost gold used on 69 H/O cars?

 

In a word- no. Maybe you can get a paint shop to make you some and put it in a can?

BASF Diamont line has a formulation. DuPont's version is apparently drying up some of the ingredients. May still be able to get it but I haven't tried in a long while.

I can attest to the fact that in the sun, the BASF and the DuPont formulas look darn near the same. DuPont formulation has a bit more flip/flop to it out of the sun, but when I was working on the DuPont formulation with Demmer and DuPont, I had a test sample of the DuPont and laid it up next to a car that was redone with BASF Diamont formula. As I said, in the sun, they look the same to me. I used to have a picture of that somewhere, but I haven't seen it in a while.

Since rattle paint cans have more thinner in them, I don't know how well it would spray out in a can.

If you go to an Automotive paint store they can mix the color and fill a spray can for you. It's very common. You just need to make sure the store
has the provisions to fill spray cans. Hope this helps.

 

See if you can find a BASF dealer that can make a can for you.if you can get two part even better

Keep in mind in general stuff out of a can might not be as good as a quart mixed one.. but they are getting better, even make two part can sprays now..

Maybe clearcoat after with a two part clear like this..

 

If you do get a can filled, be sure to shake it for a LONG time before spraying. The metallic will settle out very rapidly.

 

Maybe a place like could help if you dont have a local auto place that mixes paint…i have no experience w this place

 

I gave the paint formula to the local NAPA paint store and they mixed me up a rattle can, matched my previous paint on car perfectly.

 

 

Is that original or a later mix??
