Fire wall - black or body color

1965 Starfire convertible ...should the firewall be body color or black? I am picking one up that was recently repainted during a frame off and the firewall is still red.

Seems Canadian cars had the firewall body color, USA cars were black.

I've never seen any documentation of this. The firewall in the Oshawa-built 1968 442 that I got in 1974 was semi-gloss black and it was the original paint.

Op asked about a b body 1965. Check this link here recently posted, original paint junkyard 65 Delta. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...neyard-138073/ Seems all B bodies I have seen from Canada have the body color firewall, 65 66 era. The air cleaners are also different.

Yeah I caught that too...All my other '65 were built in the US (Lansing, K.C and California) and they are all painted black. Interesting!

I'm a bit interested in the different air cleaner too? Are there any pics/side by side comparisons anyone has? I'm used to American built 2V carb air filter housings

The lid has a different stamping and the snorkel is shaped differently, this is what I noticed in pictures I came across, I do not have the pictures.
