engine painting
need information on engine painting for my 1972 cutlass supreme.......350 engine what gets painted gold, doesnt, what colors should mounting brackets ect. be? wanna make it look right.
Brackets get painted with semi-gloss (sometimes considered satin) black. Personally i painted my brackets gold, but i just like them like that.
Generally, You can get Olds Gold engine paint from many dealers. Depending on what you prefer.
Fucisk (known olds dealer)
POR-15
Hirsch (It's more bronze)
Or your friendly-neighborhood hardware store brand (I opted for this one because i'm cheap).
I can't seem to find it, but drop a line to Eric (Mdchanic). He had a thread running about engine paints.

If it's anything like the '68 models, if the car doesn't have A/C, the lower alternator bracket is painted the color of the engine because the alternator bracket went on before the engine was painted. If the car does have A/C, the lower brackets for the alternator and the A/C compressor are the satin black color.
