Alot of folks use the semi-gloss black spray paint available at the auto parts store.

Krylon Rust-Tough semi-flat. It is available pretty much everywhere, and it kicks ****. It has a great sheen, is pretty cheap, but most of all when it's applied correctly it is as tough as nails. After a few days of it drying, you couldn't scratch it if you wanted. ( well I'm sure you could if you REALLY wanted, but still very strong)
