I'm trying to find a decent paint to dye/paint some of my interior pcs for my '71 cutlass back to the (supposedly) original color of pearl. Would rather not use a rattle can. The trim code is showing 977. I've been told this is suppose to be Parchment White (but I've seen 977 trim code on GM cars that had pearl interior), I want to paint all trim parts pearl (I've already bought new door panels, seat cover, etc. in pearl).. Local paint store said they can't find a pearl interior color for that year.

Anyone have any suggestions?

 

I think for 1971 Pearl was not available. Either white, or parchment. Not sure what 977 is though, sorry.

 

Not sure if there is a dye as pearl has a pearlescent sheen to it, sort of a muticolor reflection when the light catches it.

 

Pearl is a 1970 color. there is a dye for it, but if you have any color other than white or a very light beige you need to dye it white first and then mist it with the pearl. The pearl is more of a clear coat than a solid dye.

 

i have a 70 with pearl int and i just sold my 71 with white int, i replaced both convert tops and complete interiors on both, pearl white was a 70 only color, regular white was a 71 color, if you just bought pearl door panels look at the wood grain 2 see if its 71 wood grain or 70 wood grain ive never seen a 71 pearl door panel
