Have a 69 that is being cloned to a Hurst Olds. I want to do this in a Black/ Gold Stripe color scheme. Cameo White and Hurst Fire Frost Gold were the Hurst Stock colors. What color of black and what color of gold would you guys recomend to use ? After reviewing another clone in this color the black used does not pop the gold as I would like. Due to the Gold color being actual "Hurst" the black will be what we can play with. Any Ideas?
I'm prejudiced as I have a Cutlass with a very similar scheme and a 70 OAI hood. Find the darkest blue with the highest poly content. Use it in place of black. I did this with mine back in 71 and have been amazed over the years how many others have come up on their own with the same thing

In my previous life my Foxbody Mustang had this blue. It was a custom mix and was only blue under extreme bright light. I will talk to my paint guy and see what he says he can do with this.
I think the dark Hurst option is in good taste personally. It makes me think of one of our club member's '69 442 done in an almost monochromatic scheme that was originally intended as a reverse Rallye 350 (black with yellow stripes and a 455). The owner liked the solid black to the extent that he decided not to go though with the stripes. I personally think the gold accents look great. Hmm I spent a couple of weeks in Cookeville last summer.
