In 71 what was the striping options for the 442 with the W25 option? Is there details/dimensions for the striping anywhere? I want to get the stripes painted on my car and want to make sure they are correct.
There are no "options", only the single way the factory did it. Unlike every other 1970-72 442 that you will see, W-25 cars did NOT get the wide side stripes. All non-W-30 cars got the same narrow side stripes. W-25 cars got the wide panels on the hood, however. This should be in the PIM (assembly manual).
So there were no striping that came only with the W25 option??
Not sure what you are asking. Again, a non-W 442 that came with W-25 from the factory got the same narrow side stripes as every other 442 and the wide panel stripes on the hood. Note that if W-25 was ordered on a Cutlass (not a 442), you ONLY got the hood stripes.
This car is correct:
This car is not correct (note it is not a W-30):
And this Cutlass Supreme is just pegging the meter...
But what about the standard/base model 442 that year? Would it have come with the 3 smaller stripes down the side? Like the first picture you just posted.

Third time's a charm...

I take it from all the sarcasm about the 71 442 OAI cars many of them have been fitted with W25 hoods. So what does that do to those of us who actually have an original W25 equipped car?

Thanks again,

Sarcasm?
ME?
Nahhhh....
Unfortunately, unless you can document that the car is an original, one will assume the hood has been added.
For completeness, here's a correct 1971 442 without O.A.I. This may be the only one left...
That’s not quite a truly correct car since it’s a repaint. Side stripes are in the wrong place. 1970 had them low on the sides like that. 71 and 72 had 3 skinny stripes and were placed a tad higher than the example shown. Although the center hood stripes and side stripes are of the correct style for the non-W25 or non-W30 optioned 442.

Yeah, my 3rd owner 1972 Cutlass 442 had the W-25 from the factory. My brother bought it off the original owner In Houston, TX area in 1981ish and I have the original window sticker for the car! I keep it in a fireproof safe since I have never found a build sheet in the car. When I painted it last June I used a stripe kit from Phoenix Graphix and this is how the paint mask was cut for the 72 kit. Lower like the 1970 but I had to do a lot of cutting and re-taping to get each curve in front and back of each wheel well to look right. Then, the pinstripe on the rear decklid was not wide enough.....like it was for a convertible deck lid! I had the first one installed and called them and complained and they cut a new one the width as my deck lid and sent it to me. I peeled the old one off and the new one looked right when installed! It doesn't bother me that the side stripes are low. What bothers me is well known companies selling repro stuff that is not right. I also had issues with REM templates to drill 442 letter emblem holes on the fenders and trunk lid as well as their water shields for the inner doors (both rear shields were not even close to the originals). I don't trust any repro stuff to be right anymore. I'd have been pizzed if I'd drilled the holes in my NOS GM passenger fender without checking them.
It is also why I ask a lot of questions on here.....because it's hard to tell what is actually true from looking at an assembly manual IMO! Better to ask than to eff something up!
