Painting Letters on OAI Surround

Anybody with any tips to share on how to paint the letters on the ram air plastic surround? I have seen these painted white and silver and most are unpainted. Did the factory ever paint them? I also have a Rallye 350 advertisement from 1970 and the letters are painted in it although I realize sometimes the ads don't match reality. Thanks in advance for any input!

This has been discussed multiple times, seems most agree they came from the factory NOT painted. Many ads did have them painted. Looks nice that way. I have had three of them, the two that came on each of my W30s had no hint of ever being painted. The one I bought separately was painted white. Most of the time when painted it is white.
