Dash cluster restoration Vacuum Orna-Metal

This is an oem part that was in overall bad condition when I received my 442.

I put the part on the shelf for several years before deciding to see if someone could restore it--at a reasonable price. I removed the original burl wood insert and sent the original cluster to Vacuum Orna-Metal in Romulus, MI for the vacuum metalizing process after they gave me a quote of $145 for the restoration. They also restored the black shadow paint along with the chrome. I'm very pleased with the results. The burl wood insert as seen in the photo has not been cemented in when the picture was taken.

Lookin' good!

Did you get a new burl wood insert or is that the OE one?

I call the burl wood insert an original one as it matches the other burl wood pieces in the dash. The insert is mounted to a metal backer.
