Fuel Tank Swap

1966 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible
Hope this has not been asked - new to the forum! Old tank is toast with no hope for salvage - has anyone swapped or found a good solution.. Leaning towards a 59-60 impala or a Ford Mustang since it will fit the space.. Also missing some trim pieces.
Any direction at all will be greatly appreciated!

I don't think there is a thread on our site about retrofitting a modern fuel tank to a 60s 98. Whichever tank would be easier to secure with the tank straps is probably the one you should use. I doubt a Chevy tank will be close enough to fit without modification.

If you need trims pieces they're goin to have to come off of a salvage car. You might try Fusick or Kanter for hard to find parts:

The Mustang tank is designed to be the floor of the trunk, not retained by straps. Fitment could be a problem.

Thank you! I have reached out to DVAP with a list of trim and they are checking on the tank.

I found that out after reaching out to a reseller asking why I couldn't find the tank straps - luckily he had a good laugh - will keep digging! Thank you for the response.

Is the OE tank unsalvageable? I had good luck restoring the tank on my 71 98 with a POR 15 restoration kit. You can get them from Summit, Jegs and even Eastwood.

Option 1–Did you try calling this seller:

https://www.onecallfueltanks.com/old...nks-gas-tanks/

Option 2–send your tank out to have the bad metal sections replaced. He can make your straps if needed.

Option 3–Call CT Auto to see if they have a good tank from one of these 66 model 98 parts cars. You can see the filler neck on this one:
