1965 Starfire with a 4 speed!

Hey guys! I just added another starfire to my collection. This one was purchased 01-19-16 at the Mecum Kissimmee auction.

Its a pretty stripped down model, having only power steering and brakes. It doesn't even have reverse lights!

The motor has been rebuilt. It has ported and polished heads off a 98 model, so it has slightly lower compression. It also has an edelbrock intake, holley carb, electric fans, and an electric fuel pump. Upon further inspection the battery has been relocated to the trunk. I do believe this may have been a car that was raced as the odometer reads only 7092 miles, and its in WAY too good of shape to be 107k miles.

The interior and exterior are impeccable. The undercarriage has also been fully detailed.

The car was delivered to my shop in Virginia within 24 hours of winning the auction, courtesy of Reliable auto transport. I will get more pics and vids soon, but we currently are getting like 2 feet of snow, so the car will be in the garage for a bit.

Here is a quick walk around video

I met with the seller, who lived locally. He also included a TON of parts such as:

  • OEM intake
  • OEM heads
  • OEM cam
  • 2 trunk lids
  • 1 hood
  • NOS exhaust manifolds
  • NOS steering wheel
  • extra trim, and a ton of other parts

I can't wait to drive this car!

Nice collection of 65 cars you've got there. Did you by chance buy that Starfire 'vert from a guy name of Keith Moore or somesuch from Ontario? Looks familiar, did some business with that guy some years back.

Had followed that Starfire 4 speeder Mecum auction, was curious what it wold go for. Congrats on the purchase.

If you are interested in buying a second '65 big 4 speeder, PM me about my 4 speed '65 Jetstar I, black with parchment interior. Been thinking of selling it, will probably market it in the spring. If you aren't interested, any chance you know who the second bidder was on the car you just bought, haw haw?!

this car looks to have been in florida a majority of its life. I do not know anyone looking for one of these, and I wish I saw who the other bidders were on my car because they seemed to want it pretty bad. They bid the car up FAST

Well, that's what I gotta do, find one of those poor saps that lost out, he.

Good luck with the car; my own infatuation with big 4 speeders goes back over 15 years. May yours last at least as long. Someone I know once referred to driving one as "like shifting in a auditorium".

so, somebody made this up of factory parts, right?

'Cause factory MT big cars are ALMOST as elusive as the Solid Main Web 403...

Looks great, would love to get a spin around the block if you get to Homecoming.

Congrats!

That looks very much like the black 4-speed car that was wowing everybody at 1990 Columbus Nats, mainly because of its lack of options. Story then was a doctor in Wilmington NC had ordered car new. You have any history on it?

There are 2 boxes of documents in the car that I have not had the time to look at yet.

Between my two 64s, your four 65s, and my buddy's 66, amazing there are that many Starfires within 100 miles of each other. A dark blue 65 used to show up at River Ridge cruise in Lynchburg once in a while so there's another in the area. We used to line up my green 64, Tim's 66 and that one all in a row, and then a 65 Pontiac 2+2 from Appomattox rolled in one night so we had a nice display of mid-60s GM full-size muscle.

Took the Hurst up there one night and found a 1974 Laguna and a 77 Pontiac CanAM to park with. That was also a good display esp since most folks didn't know what any of them were.

So which one you bringing to Nats in Bristol/Kingsport this summer?

The 4 speed and convertible, most likely.

We brought the blue hardtop and convertible to ohio 2 years ago...that was fun

so I just registered for the nationals like 15 minutes before the deadline.

Soon after I bought this car, I purchased new appliances at HHGregg. They messed up my ice maker line on the new fridge, and flooded my house to the tune of around $85k in damages and rent costs. We moved in like 3 weeks ago.

Then my shop caught on fire. Not too bad, but enough to get my nerves going again and get my power shut off for a few days. Chalk that one up to someone adding their own wiring that wasn't to code, and a building inspector that must have missd it on the pre purchase inspection.

So needless to say, I've been busy and just forgot to register.

I will probably be coming alone, and will b bringing the black 4 speed car.

yes sir that was my car. I arrive JUST in time for the opening dinner. From there I went to my rental house. I drove the car to the show the next couple days. Ended up winning a second place award in the STOCK class (oops) despite having a ton of points deducted for all the modifications in the engine bay

At least you weren't like that modified 61 Super 88 in 8A. The guy had it and a bone stock 62 Starfire in the show and the 61 was horribly misclassed. Outstanding car but we had to hit it hard because of all the mods. I really felt bad for owner and car because it would have kicked *** in modified.

I was not aware of a modified class. Maybe it wasn't clear enough on the sign up sheet. Either way I had a blast despite it being 500 degrees out there lol

Rear bumper moldings

You wouldn't happen to have the two chrome rear bumper moldings that go below the tail lights but mount to the bumper on any of your 1965 Starfire parts cars?

Thanks
