Well I rebuilt my 62 4GC 4 Jet carb..

I just decided that if I was going to learn... might as well just dive in. I am glad I did too. I found quite a few things wrong. Other than the rotted out rubber plunger boot, I found that there was no spring at all around the bottom part of the accl. plunger (even though the plunger was newer). Also, I found that the secondary float "tang" was not over the spring to its rear... so the secondary floats were just kind of doing whatever they wanted to do. So I did some adjusting and what not. Hopefully I will be able to try out the carb tuesday after I check out the dist. while the carb isn't in the way. The measurements seem to be MUCH better now and the secondary throttle plates will actually be able to open. So I hope this will help somewhat. I noticed my carb didn't have an inlet filter either. Need to correct a few more things.. then I will move on to doing the engine flush Wish me luck.

It wasn't so bad after I got it apart (and read a TON of stuff over and over again). I am going to stick it on tomorrow and see what happens. You old car veterans totally inspired me to keep learning more and more I plan to redo the front end sometime too, once I get the parts and tools of course

I will give everyone an update tomorrow.. hope things go smooth.

Congrats! Carbs look far more intimidating than they actually turn out to be. Now, for the real test, it bolt on and running the engine. Give us a report,

I am about to do this as I type this. I am glad I got a timing light since it will turn up to be helpful. I think my idle was WAYYYY too high even after the car warmed up (1000 rpm at least). Gonna keep my fingers crossed
