Stalling

I have had a stalling problem with my 62 non AC Starfire since I got it ten months ago. The car stalls every time it is stopped the least bit quickly; often hesitates or stalls when making a quick turn and when traveling around a traffic circle ( we have those here in DE, MD & NJ). Other then this, the car starts easily, cold or hot, idles very smoothly and runs fine at all speeds. Per advice, I checked the check valve the the vacuum line to the power brake booster; it is good. I had the carbureator professionally rebuilt. No imrpovement; the problems remain. Now for my embarassment: I have removed and installed the carbureator; I have set low speed idle via the mixture screws; I have set the high speed idle: I have set the throttle check valve; I have just now noticed that there is no idle vent on the carbureator. The vent hole is plugged and covered with what appears to be clear epoxy. Could the absence of the idle vent valve be the cause of my stalling issue?
