Hi, I want to convert my 63 F85 to front disk brakes. I have spent a lot of time on the Skylark616263 site figuring out the correct way to do this. That site is extremely helpful to the 61-63 F85 owners.

My question is has anyone here done the Scarebird conversion to 5 lugs, using the S10 rotors (5 x 4.75) on 2nd gen Corvair hubs? If so, do you know what GM rims work? Specifically I wanted to put 14" Olds Rally rims from the 78-88 era.

Ever get around to this conversion? I see Kanter has the front brake conversion kit now listed. I am also curious as to what the plan was to convert the rear 4 bolt pattern to a 5.

 

Hi, I did complete it last fall. Used brackets from Scarbird, and Camero hubs, and S10 rotors and calipers. If you search the Skylark616263 website for a guy named Warren, he has a step by step conversion list. The rears I took up to the local speed shop and they sent them off to get redrilled and plugged. Let me know if you can't find Warrens list. I printed out and would have to search a little for it. John

 

Thanks! I think I have found the parts i need to get the rest of the car looking great, will be nice to have it rolling at the right height and on nice looking wheels. What did you end up going with, the olds rally rims?

 

Glad you found what you needed. I did go with the Olds rims. I always loved the way they looked. They were from a 78 Cutlass. Using 185/65/14 (I think) These are about the same diameter as the 13", and it clears the rear fender lip.
