convertible top question

Hey guys,

Are the tops on the mid 60s car run on hydraulics? My top gave me the first hint of an issue this weekend. About halfway up, it sounded like the pump/motor was free spinning and the top was running suuuper slow. I did see some weird wet spot under the car near the back too. I've never owned a car like this, so I figured I would ask the experts!

Yep, it has an electric pump, and a hydraulic cylinder on each side. If you have a weak fitting or hose, it will allow air in, and fluid out. Look in your trunk for a pump under the top well, and any signs of leakage.

So both cylinders were leaking, and the motor was not even bolted down. there were signs of someone monkeying around in there. Probably to doctor it up so the car would sell.

Anyway I have all new parts now and the top works great again

Where did you buy your parts and how easy was the install?

I got everything from Fusicks, and had the same upholstery shop do it, that did my interior on my 65 hardtop starfire.

If anyone wants my old stuff, you can have it for the cost of shipping. I'd really hate to throw it out
