Hi! On my 1972 cutlass, how does the exterior hood release handle attach to the hood latch assembly? This horizontal black handle seems to fit in to the hole at the bottom of the vertical hood latch assembly,
and I have a piece that looks like it would somehow lock the handle into the hood latch assembly but the assembly manual doesn't seem to show detail as to how this attaches. I can attach the two assemblies and they will stay together for a few pulls and then come apart. Any ideas how to attach this or what o am missing? I Am also missing the round plastic ring that seats the latch handle in the core support. Anyone have the parts I need and/or some photos of how this is supposed to go together?

If I'm following your question it sounds like you are missing a clip that holds the rod into the release lever. Here's some pictures of what I think you need on a 1972 Cutlass core support. If there's any other views that you want to see let me know. This is a complete core support that's in decent shape, so I hesitate to sell parts off it thinking someone will need a complete one. But your welcome to use these photos checking aftermarket suppliers or in a parts wanted thread here. If you totally strike out and can't find the parts at what you consider a reasonable price let me know. John
