Fuel line patch/replace
Fuel line patch/replace
Hi,
Looks like my 1971 Cutlass 350 (no A/C) needs some fuel line work. There is a small leak right under the passenger door where the fuel lines makes that jog around the frame. I would like to replace the entire line when I can, but it's more work that I am able to do right now. I instead plan to just bend up a piece of 3/8" line to match that section, cut the bad part out and use some rubber fuel line and clamps to connect the new metal as a temporary solution.
Seems simple enough, but I am wondering if there is a connection near the tank that is accessible that I could remove and plug or some way to block the fuel flow before I cut into the line? Of course it's full, lol. If I have to drain it so be it. Just wondered if there is an easier way. Thanks!

The connections from the tank to the metal fuel lines are rubber hoses. You can remove and plug those, and I suggest replacing those sections of rubber as they are likely hard as rock after all these years.
Ok, I will have to take a look tomorrow. I was under there earlier but just saw 3 or 4 lines and some rubber connections and wasn't exactly sure what I was looking at. I found some piping diagrams later but they make it look like the fuel line connection is above the tank.
