Bumper holes

Does anyone know what the circled holes are for on a 1969 442 bumper? Thanks in advance!

Rubber bumpers for the flip-down license plate gas filler, perhaps?

edit: apparently, the bumpers are supposed to go in the rectangular holes:

Probably had a light-duty trailer hitch bolted to it. Similar to what's on this Mustang. They were on everything back then along with a bunch of bowed-out bumpers.

The hole for air shocks fill valve is to passenger side of the license bracket bolt holes. Note the factory dimple for the fill valve in the 1970 bumper.

Yeah, my ‘71 had one when I bought it in 1989. The previous owners pulled a horse trailer with it. Gotta love when these were just another car.

The dished hole to the right of the gas cap is where the Schrader valve for the RPO G66 SuperLift shocks goes.
