Hi guys, I have been thinking about buying a new blowtorch because the naphtha gas one is getting worn out after almost 60 years, I will buy a new naphtha gas one next weekend from a used store, But i was wondering how the small oxy sets work for you guys?

I used to use a Tiger torch for roofing. I believe it was even made in Canada, .

Are you using it to melt snow or what?

I think you are a pretty rare breed using one of those ol' naptha gals.

 

Keith Just what are you using it for? I am using oxygen & propane for heating & cutting ,works pretty good, The propane is a little cheaper & more accessible around here. Dosent work as good for welding but they dont make coat hangers like they use to! LOL I use the small oxy Acc outfit for portable use in my AC work.But you wouldent be happy with them as a cutting torch 2 or 3 cuts on a frame & time to go get more oxy . The small bottles of MAPP gas work great for heating nuts & bolts for breaking loose.

 

WOO HOO, I got a propane the other day and what a difference... I am thrilled to have somthing I can get in small places with, especially for pipe soldering... Although I still like the naptha...

You gotta try the MAPP gas Hand held like a propane but %%% more heat directed on that 1 place you need it .Still what are your expiations of your torch set up ?
