I wonder why the line coming from my evaporator box isn't as long as yours. Do you all recommend converting my AC to r134 or staying R12? Where can I find R12?

Not sure why your line is shorter, unless your evap was replaced and the replacement part was incorrect...

Old shade tree mechanics and old car owners who no longer have older cars would be the best to ask for R12. Ask around at work, put out a request on company bulletin board or something. That is how I obtained mine years ago for my 86...

If your system leaks badly or the compressor is bad, or any good amount of $$ will be spent getting it to work, convert to 134 and go it all right then. This was freon would be easier and cheaper to get should you ever need it later.

Instead of looking for the real R12 which is expensive if you can find it try one of the replacement products...should be lots out there at the parts stores..Duracool is one but they go under different names probably where you live...I use it in my 65...works great...Its a do it your self product...
