I'm looking to buy a 65 F-85 Convertible. All original, all docs. I am torn between putting in a modern stereo system or leaving it alone. I do not want to modify anything so that it can be easily returned to its original state. Pros cons or products you would suggest.

What I will do with mine is do a modern stereo but hide most of it and don't do anything that cant be undone.

There are several vendors out there who install modern stereo guts into original radio housings. Externally they look like the factory radio. You still need to hide the speakers (OEM speakers from the 1960s were worthless when they were new and are even worse now). Some of these vendors can install MP3 jacks as well.

I don't yet. Working on getting it to drive again right now. Stereo is always last on my list. I will post whatever I do in my build thread but it will be a while.

Try this line. They make modern radios that look just like the stock units. There are a few other manufactures that do the same thing. You can get them with remote CD and Ipod as well.

Don't sweat it. We were all newbies once. I started playing with cars in my mid teens and 20 years later I still learn something new every day.( Oh and sometimes relearn something I already knew but forgot)
