Does anyone know if any company sells a 64 F-85 gas tank with the filler neck attached? Preferably for less than an arm and a leg. Short of that, can anyone recommend a place that sells the appropriate filler neck? Also, there are a lot of different sending units that could potentially fit. How do you pick the right one. Thanks in advance for any help.

I got mine through Tanks Inc. I bought the fuel injection ready one that has a two piece filler neck. It appears that the non-FI tank doesn't come with the filler.

yeah, I saw that FI one and was excited until I realized it wouldn't work for my carb setup.

 

I am running a carb, just need a regulator to knock the pressure down from the FI psi levels to carb psi level.

 

Thats a great idea! Do you have a link for the regulator? That would save a step if I ever switch to FI too.

Awhile back I bought mine with the filler neck, I would have to look threw my receipts but it was made in Canada. I used a Rob-Mac pick up/sending unit.

 

I have an Aeromotive (maybe A1000?) that I had left over from another project, but I would think there would be other options.

 

If all else fails, I've got some good used gas tanks. If you just wanted the filler tube it appears to be soldiered on. I might be able to remove one and just ship you the filler if you wanted. John

 

 

Thanks, John! That would be awesome! After looking at the the price of the FI tank with a pump and regulator, it'd be over $600. A $100 tank sounds a lot more reasonable. I'll check my current tank and see if the neck is in decent shape and let you know if I need one.

 

Here is what I'm working with. With the small bit of leakage, would it be worth it to just use JB weld and call it a day?

 

Mike, I don't know if you've made a decision on this yet or not. I'd clean it real well and identify what's causing the leak. If it has a rust hole, I'd lean toward replacing. If its the solder where the filler goes into the tank, I'd try repairing that. John
