I need install instruction on side door windows. I bought the project with glass out of the doors and can’t figure out how they go back in. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Hopefully someone can help. Post some pics when you can.

The Factory and Chassis Service manuals are pretty necessary for such an old project. Don't bother with a Chilton's or Hayne's manual.

 

Both front and back seat doors?

 

The front windows are not that bad, if you follow the Fisher body manual. If I remeber, you have to remove the vent window frame 1st.
The rears? Good luck. The Fisher manual details the Cutlass wagon with the shorter rear doors, but the VC rear door design is different. I tried getting the rear door glass out of my '71 and gave up. I'm sure it can be done but I could not figure it out. And I consider myself pretty good at figuring that sort of stuff out.

 

FWIW, after I installed new weatherstripping on my 71 98 the doors wouldn't close with the windows up. I have the instructions in the FSM & CSM, but couldn't figure out how to align the front and rear windows (since it's a 4 door hardtop). I took it to a glass & window shop in town to let the pros do it.

 

Well, I don't know if the OP is still watching this thread. But I've got some loose 1970 Vista Cruiser doors I can take pictures of. One of the previous posts describe the front doors as being in the Fisher Body Manual. If your going to work on your car I'd encourage you to get the Body and Chassis manuals, on ebay all the time. Then a member here has made very nice copies of Assembly manuals that he sells. If you got all three of those I believe that would answer most questions that come up in your restoration project. But for now, I've take a bunch of photos of the rear door. Please look these over and let me know what questions come up. Its kind of hard to get good photos of the insides, but I can try to get more of anything that's not clear. If your missing any parts I would be willing to remove and sell you whatever you need off these as they are spare parts.

This is a short rail that bolts to the door and has a wheel running in it when you roll the window up and down. This is the left fastener

Short channel bolted to inside of door, with the clip, upper right corner of photo is the one between the two bolts.




This is the vertical channel at the back of the door. The horizontal rod near the center is the door handle release lever. The chrome bolt is attached to a bracket on the channel.
