Good morning all. I haven't been on the website for quite a while. I've had my Cutlass convertible for 20 years and loved it all this time. My only problem is living in Mesa Arizona it gets a bit hot in the summer, consequently my cutlass sits most of the summer. I have been researching and I believe that a Engine fan shroud with a fan with fan clutch will help a lot. Any ideas Olds never made a shroud for the 62s so does anyone know of any other cars that have a shroud that may fit? I have been told that a shroud from a 65 Starfire w a/c might work I just have to make different mounts for it. I really do not want to put electric fans in front of the radiator. Since these cars are so rare I really don't want to modify it anymore that necessary (keeping it cool is a necessity).
The 62 Tempest and Skylark shared the same Buick aluminum 215 V-8 maybe the core support are similar and the shroud can be worked in easier than the Starfire. Just and idea.
The only parts book I have shows a 7 blade fan for a 62 F85 with CAC (?) cooling. It does not show a shroud but that does not mean there was not one available. Depending on how handy you are with fabricating stuff there are a lot of custom aluminum shrouds available for race cars that you can modify to fit. Here is just one of many. Or if there is a race car builder near you they might be able to fabricate a custom one.
