Thumbs up 1971 Pontiac GTO 400 4-spd

1971 Pontiac GTO 400 4-Spd

What we have here is a two owner 1971 Pontiac GTO 400 4-Spd! The car is fully documented with the ORIGINAL Window Sticker, Build Sheet, Owner’s Manual, Body Shop Inspection Card ETC. The car retains its born with drivetrain and is all Numbers Matching. The car was special ordered with 26 options and cost $5,078.79! One rare item is a power 4-way bench seat! All the rare parts are still present, even the 90-degree plastic nipple that comes from the hood tach to the heater box!

Richard Reidling purchased the car brand new from Jim Herrin Pontiac in Findlay, Ohio on 5/17/1971. The original owner’s manual shows all the maintenance he did to the vehicle all the way up to 108,000 miles. He Owned the car until 2009 when he sold the car to Richard Heater. Richard decided to restore the car, and started to take the car apart. He performed a complete body-on restoration going through the entire suspension, drive-train, interior, body and paint! Richard decided he didn’t like the original parchment top and interior, so he switched them to black, which looks good with the original Castillian Bronze exterior. I have a folder that is about 4” thick full of receipts from the restoration. The car runs and drives brilliantly with no bugs or issues.

Mechanically, the drivetrain performs flawlessly. The rare and hard to find 7041263 828 CFM single venturi carb is present a top the WK 400. Only Brad Penn oil has been used on this car since being re-built. Both the wide ratio M-20 transmission and 10 bolt rear were gone through and perform wonderfully. The 3.55 Safe-T-Track is a perfect mate to this drive train.

The interior was completely gone through and looks great, I would rate it an 8 out of 10. The dash pad is near perfect and the glove box door fits great. All gauges work well, including the hood tach and added oil pressure, temperature and Amp gauges.
The paint is the only weak spot on the car. When painting, there was an adhesion problem with some of the primer. The hood and both fenders were affected, see pictures. The Vinyl top was replaced as well and looks like new. The rear bumper and grilles were both re-chromed and the stainless trim looks great.
I just installed a set of original 14 x 7” Rally II rims like ordered, along with new center caps, lug nuts and 235 60 R14 RWL tires. She drives and handles as expected.

This is a 46 year old muscle car and is sold “As is Where is” with no warranty either expressed or implied.

No haggle price of $19,000.00. SOLD SOLD SOLD!

Thank you!
