1984 Eldorado Touring Coupe - Survivor $6,500

1984 Eldorado Touring Coupe - Survivor $6,500

SOLD

This is an exceptionally clean, well maintained, and garaged 84 Eldorado Touring Coupe with a Black exterior and a Tan Interior. This car has rarely been driven in rain, and certainly not in snow, and been pampered its whole life.

This is a rare car, only 1 of 815 made this year. I have looked for the past 6 months and have not seen one of these for sale so catch this one before it gets away. Many upgrades go into the Touring Coupe including: Bigger front/rear sway bars, performance transaxle, extra frame stiffening, high back bucket seats with center console. (Can find more info on this if you google it) .

History: This is a three owner vehicle that has been garaged its entire life with only 70k miles. The first owner was a family friend who had it for 2 years and drove it about 17k miles. The second owner, was my grandmother who drove it up until 2 years ago (68k) when she stopped driving. I am the third owner and have enjoyed driving it for the last two years.

The Good:
-Chrome, glass, interior, trunk, all original and in exceptional condition.
-Car drives/rides down the road like new
-All receipts for repairs done to the car
-Straight, solid, rust free body with a couple of small dings
-Everything's there, nothing missing.

The following items have been recently repaired/replaced:
- 4 new Cooper Trendsetter SE tires (2 yrs old)
- New rotors up front, all new brakes around
- New front brake hoses, entire system bled, all new fluid
- New A/C low pressure switch and system recharged
- Exhaust system (3 yrs old)
- Power steering hoses
- Oxygen Sensor
- New rear bumper fillers installed. (I have 20 hours into them with sanding, priming, painting - 3 coats black, 3 clear, installation) If you have dealt with the replacements you know what I'm talking about
- New front fillers - painted but not installed yet
- New GM gear in the trunk pull down motor

The bad:
- Mostly original GM paint is cracking (Common in 80's GM cars) (If it was repainted, it would easily win trophies at car shows)
- Headliner was replaced but started to sag in a couple of areas

I am willing to install the front fillers and redo the headliner as part of the deal. Call to discuss. Beautiful car Darrell! I had an '84 Eldo! Not nearly as cool and rare as this one! Does it have the 4100?

I had an 87 Deville with the 4100. Except for a blown manifold gasket, didnt have any other issues. Manifold gaskets often go because of the different metals, however I never understood why people think its the end of the world. I miss that car. Sold it to an older guy. He said it would be the last car he owns

Thanks guys for the complements. It really is a nice car and I would not part with it if it wasn't for a lack of space.

Question for everyone here: I talked to a guy today who said he was interested in buying the Eldo. He told me he would want to paint it right away and in order to make it worth his while, he'd have to buy it for $3400. ???? Not sure what people are thinking, maybe I'm asking too much but I priced it through NADA values? What do you all think?

Tell him thanks, but no thanks. If the car was mint, you'd be asking $8100! You're not going to find another TC around, let alone, that nice. Tell him you'd like to help him out, so $6000 takes it. Too early in the game to let it go that cheap. If you are going that cheap, let me look at it. I am friends with the president of one of the caddy clubs here on LI, he may know someone.

Nice Car. I had an '85 Seville with the Touring Package. You are using retail price from NADA which is what a dealer would charge. $3400.00 is way too low. It's a 5-6k car. Did you or anyone in the family have the 4100 recall completed?

I believe so. Not sure when the recall went out, would have to check with my grandmother to see if she remembers bringing it to the dealer.

It was, I believe from 89 and expired in 90, due to a lawsuit against Cadillac.

Thanks for the info on the dates for the recall, I don't remember it going to the dealer for that. But then again maybe it would not have qualified for the recall since she never had any issues with it.

The motor's reputation suffered if they were not properly maintained. Most of the people who changed the antifreeze every two years and added the GM coolant pellets did not have issues.

I have done this every two years and also given it a steady diet of synthetic oil. So far, it's still going strong 28 years later.

I spoke to the caddy club guy today. He knows how rare the car is. Says he was going to see a bunch of caddy guys tonight at Bellmore. He would spread the word. He also caught your ad on CL. his question to me was "why is it sitting up so high in the front?" I said, " well, it does have an aluminum engine!"

Erik,

He is the second guy to say that about the front height. I have never touched the torsion bars on that car, and neither has anyone else. It would be an easy adjustment to lower it, I could do it in 10 minutes, just never bothered me that much.

Thanks for checking to see if anyone wants the car. If someone is interested let me know right away, I am planning on contacting the other guy and offering it to him for 4,500 tomorrow.

Wow, that seems pretty cheap Darrell....what's the hurry to sell quickly? I can talk to the guy on Monday and tell him you would be willing to drop in price a little if you want.....

I agree Erik. But I looked over ebay sales over the last month, and the highest sale price was $3,400. Just a very soft market for these cars. Not really in a hurry to get rid of it, but it has been up for sale for a month, and I have had only one person that was truly interested.

My dad bought one new in '82. Was a lemon so he got a "regular" Eldo in '84. It's a sleeper collectible I'd love to have if I could.

I agree. I would keep it if I could, but too many cars and not enough space...something's gotta go.

I was actually kicking that idea around, but I put so much work in the Riv, it seemed like the better choice to keep around.

Mike, He's still around but dragging his feet. He wants me to hold it for him for a month until he can get here. He keeps changing his mind, really hard to tell what his issue is.

Price drop to $5,500.

I changed the oil today and while I was under there, I lowered the front end about 3/4" by adjusting the torsion bars so it sits lower now. Looks much better.

I thought the Eldo was sold Darrell. Did that guy back out? It's a really gorgeous looking car from seeing the pics. Although I'm not a big fan of black (so hard to keep clean), I love the tan leather interior.

He contacted me again and said he was coming out on Monday to see it. If he likes it, it will be gone.

I love the interior in this car, it is one of the most comfortable I have ever sat in. Most interiors in newer cars have very hard seats and are IMHO, terrible.

Thanks Erik. It was bought by a collector due to the rarity. He's driving it from Long Island to Grand Rapids MI tonight. He's planning to do a complete strip and repaint.
